GUI development in Python

I've seem a lot of traffic with regard to Tkinter lately. I have
resisted trying it because we working for the US govt are required to
develop tools which are Motif compliant. I suspect that since Tk is
free and based on vanilla X that accounts for some of its popularity.
vpApp was a great _start_ for an equivalent for Motif but there doesn't
seem to be much interest in building on it. I was hoping that it (as
well as a more solid Motif binding) would gain a critical mass and grow
into something usable for serious systems. I'd like to know who is (or
would like to be) using vpApp? Is there a foster parent?
