help: unable to import modules

I seem to be unable to import many of the built-in modules and all of the
standard modules.

I've done a basic compile and install, and I linked with the GNU
readline libs. Python was compiled on a SunOS 4.1.3_U1 with gcc version
2.6.3.

What have I done wrong?
