Problems building stdwin

I am trying to build python in a SGI Indigo running Irix 4; and I am having lots
of trouble buildind stdwin. Must stdwin 0.9.9 be installed before python? In the
Setup file, variable STDWIN must point to the sources of stdwin or to the
directory in Lib/stdwin?
