How about calling the constrained safe-python exec function
'para_exec'? Ie, with overtones of a 'paranoid exec'.

(The 'para' prefix itself doesn't actually carry the connotation of
paranoia, but that didn't stop people from using it in 'paranoia'.
... Of course, the odd use of the 'para' in 'paranoia' could just be a
plot to confuse people like us.-)

Re the question of implementing safety mechanisms in python in the
first place - even though i don't have any immediate use for it, it is
so important to the network media (web, resource tracking, etc) folk
out there, and they and their work is becoming so prevalent, that i
think it's essential to get something good out there, and quick.
While the iron is hot...

(If it's not already too late - sun has apparently already committed
to producing and using a 'safe tcl'. It's too bad - i have done
enough programming in tcl to be really distressed at the prospect of
it becoming the standard. It's just too simplistic for cleanly
managing the complexity of any real programming tasks, even sysadmin
stuff.)
