次のようにするとフォントをGhostScriptでも使えるようになります. 
wadalab-mincho-0-8とwadalab-symを合わせたフォントを/Wadalab-mincho-0-8
という名前で使う場合の手順は以下のようになります. 

1. 区ごとのPFAファイルを作り, Ghostscriptのfontディレクトリに置く. 

wftopfa -StdEnc -FontBase Wadalab-mincho-0-8 wadalab-sym/jis-21.ps > jis-21.pfa
wftopfa -StdEnc -FontBase Wadalab-mincho-0-8 wadalab-mincho-0-8/min-30.ps > min-30.pfa

のように, -FontBaseではPostscriptで使いたい名前を指定します. なお, 以
前置いてあったwftopfaは虫がいるため, うまくいかない時は新しいものを持っ
ていったほうがいいでしょう. 

2. GhostscriptのlibディレクトリのFontmapに登録する. 

/Wadalab-mincho-0-8.r21		(jis-21.pfa)	;
/Wadalab-mincho-0-8.r30		(min-30.pfa)	;

のような行を加えます. この時点で,

3. コンポジットフォント用のgsfファイルを作り, Fontmapに登録する. 

 このファイルの後ろにつけるWadalab-mincho-0-8.gsfをフォントディレクト
リに置き, Fontmapに,

/Wadalab-mincho-0-8		(Wadalab-mincho-0-8.gsf)	;

の行を付け加えます. 

 ゴシック体や太さの違う明朝体を使う時は, Wadalab-mincho-0-8.gsfの中の

/Wadalab-mincho-0-8 CompNF

の行を書き換える必要があります. 

 以上の変更がうまくいくと,

で「亜」の字が出ます. 

 この方法は必要のない区もロードしてしまうため, 時間とメモリの点で問題
があります. 必要になってからはじめて区をロードするようにするには, 
Wadalab-mincho-0-8.gsf.lazyの方を使って下さい. 

 ただし, こちらの方はページごとにsave, restoreをおこなうアプリケーショ
ンの場合は, 一度ロードしたフォントが捨てられてしまうので, 何度もロード
が起き, 長いファイルをpreviewする場合には不利になるでしょう.

4. (付録) SJIS形式のフォントへの対応

 MS-DOSやWindows上のアプリケーションではSJISでエンコードされたフォント
を必要とすることがあります. このようなフォントは
/Ryumin-Light-Ext-RKSJ-Hのようにフォント中にRKSJという文字列を含むので
わかります. このようなフォントを表示するには, 3までの操作を
した上で, このファイルの後ろにつけるWadalab-mincho-0-8-RKSJ.gsfを
Fontmapに登録してください.

5. (付録) EUC形式のフォントへの対応

 MS-DOSやWindows上のアプリケーションではEUCでエンコードされたフォント
を必要とすることがあります. このようなフォントは
/Ryumin-Light-EUC-Hのようにフォント中にEUCという文字列を含むので
わかります. このようなフォントを表示するには, 3までの操作を
した上で, このファイルの後ろにつけるWadalab-mincho-0-8-EUC.gsfを
Fontmapに登録してください.

(注意)
 Type1BuildCharというコマンドの名前がGhostscript 3.51から変更されたため, 
一部のgsfファイルは以下の変更が必要になります. 

Type1BuildChar -> (%Type1BuildChar) cvn cvx exec
