Where to get: host: ftp.math.umbc.edu directory: /pub/rostamian/fcal The directory contains two gzip files: fcal-5.0.src.tgz: Full source for FCAL fcal-5.0.linux.tgz: Compiled and statically linked binary for linux a.out If you retrieve the full source, beware that you will need the latest test version of XFORMS (creation date March 8 1996 or later) to compile. FCAL will not compile or run correctly with the older version of the Forms Library. Bug reports or suggestion for improvements welcome. -- Rouben Rostamian ---------------------------------------------------------------------- README for FCAL version 5.0, March 1996 WHAT IS FCAL? FCAL is a perpetual calendar and an appointments manager designed for the X Window System. FCAL's main window shows a current calendar and the list of all appointment entries in FCAL's database. Entries may be added, deleted, revised, or moved around. Expired appointments are permanently archived in an archive file which may also be browsed with FCAL. Impending appointments are announced up to three times by beeping the terminal. This behavior, and most other features of FCAL can be customized through command line options or through setting X resources. Upon request, FCAL can format and print to the screen the full or partial contents of the appointments file. The X server need not be running to do this. This is useful when making a quick inquiry or for remote access to the data locked up in FCAL's database. Complete on-line documentation is included. There is no separate manual. FCAL's graphics interface is based on the Forms Library. Originally FCAL stood for "Forms Calendar" but now I think of it as "Fancy Calendar" :-) FCAL should compile on any platform where the Forms Library is available. Imakefiles for Linux, SGI, and Ultrix are provided. Please send comments, suggestions and bug reports to: rostamian@umbc.edu. HOW TO GET FCAL: The latest version of fcal is available by anonymous ftp from: host: ftp.math.umbc.edu directory: /pub/rostamian/fcal -- Rouben Rostamian
